Shinkansen oversized bags

On the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen, bags over 160 cm (length + width + height) need a seat with an oversized-baggage area, booked in advance. Board without one and you pay an on-board fee.

Send bags hotel → hotel

Takkyubin delivery from your hotel front desk or any konbini usually arrives the next day. Ride with a daypack and let your suitcase travel separately.

Lockers & storage

Big station lockers fill up by late morning. Reserve storage at a shop near the station with an app such as ecbo cloak, or use the station's baggage counter.
